Ok guys I decided to think of an original game to keep you guys busy during the week. I've never tried it out so we'll iron out any problems in the season. The point of these games is basically so it gives you an excuse to check in our pro boards site. It's not mandatory for you to play, but I'd be appreciated if you did and left me some feedback.
HOW TO PLAY
Ok, so the point of this game is to predict the winning pitcher and run difference of three of the best MLB games for the upcoming week. We must have at least eight teams that are going to participate in the entire season. You must submit a prediction for at least 75% of the season to be eligible for the championship. Champions will be decided in a style like the mlb's playoffs, I will go more in depth later. The regualar season will last as long as the MLB's regular season, so there will be 24 weeks in our season. You must have at least 18 weeks worth of predictions. If you don't post your predictions you will recieve no points, even if one of the games is cancelled. I will try to post the three games on a Sunday night and have the first game on a Tuesday giving you some time to think about the games. You must have your predictions in one hour befor the first pitch of the first of that weeks picked games. EX: Game one first pitch is on a Wednesday at 1PM, my predictions MUST be submitted on Wednesday at 12-noon or earlier.
SCORING
Scoring ismgoingmto be only points collected in the week. However in the playoffs scoring will be haed-to-head points. Regular season scoring will be fairly simple it will be as following,
--Your game predicted score is...
-exact-3points
-within two-2points
-within three-1point
-four or more runs off-Opoints
--You predict the winning pitcher....
-you were correct-3points
-you were wrong-0points
Here is an example of how a week would go. I'll look at the upcoming week's games-~Game one is- Detroit Tigers (SP Justin Verlander) @ New York Yankees (SP CC Sabathia)
My predictions are WP- Verlander/run diff-2 runs
~Game two is- Cincinatti Reds (SP Johnny Cueto) @ St. Louis Cardinals (SP Adam Wainwright)
My prediction is WP- Jonathan Broxton/run diff-1 run
~Game three is- San Francisco Giants (SP Matt Cain) @ Los Angeles Dodgers (SP Clayton Kershaw)
My prediction is WP- Clayton Kershaw/run diff- 1 run
~~The results are Game One- WP- Justin Verlander(3pts) run diff-1 run(2pts)
Game two- WP-Matt Rzepczynski(0pts) run diff- 4 runs(2pts)
Game three- WP Clayton Kershaw(3pts) run diff-1 run(3pts)
~so I earned 12pts for week "x"
RAINOUTS/CANCELLED GAME
In the event of a rainouted out game I will reward each member with two points for each rained-out game, or any other cancelled game.
PLAYOFFS
When the regular season ends we will take the the top 8 highest scoring players of the game and they will be in the playoff bracket. The top four highest teams (team 1, team 2, team 3, team 4)will be safe for week one in the playoffs. But the ottom scoring teams will be facing off to earn their "wild card spots." Team 5 will be facing team 7 and team 6 will be against team 8. We will have a bracket much like MLB's playoff bracket.
PLAYOFF BRACKET
Will be determined at a later date.
TIE BREAKERS
Ok if we have a tie breaker for a playoff spot our first method is the winner will be the player that has the most points for predicting the correct winning pitcher. If that fails or it's a tie we will look at week 17, which ever player has the most points in that week will continue on the road to October. If that fails more nessesary Tiebreaks will be decided by myself and the soon to be announced co commishiners.
If you have anymore questions of the rules please contact the Dodgers.
